1-Hour Flagger Safety Training (NYC DOB) – Course Description

This 1-hour course provides an introduction to flagging operations in accordance with NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) and applicable traffic control safety standards.

This training is intended as an awareness-level course and does not replace more advanced or site-specific traffic control training where required. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate of completion in accordance with NYC DOB training guidelines.

CEU Requirements:

• Full course completion required for CEUs.
• All modules and assessments must be completed with 70% passing score.
• Attendance and participation are electronically tracked.
• Identity verification/proctoring 
• CEUs and certificates issued upon successful completion.

CEUs Awarded: 0.1

Participants will learn the role and responsibilities of a flagger in maintaining safe work zones, protecting workers, and directing pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

The course covers essential topics including proper use of hand signals, signage, and personal protective equipment (PPE), as well as hazard awareness in active construction and roadway environments. Emphasis is placed on communication, positioning, and maintaining visibility to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow.
