SST 10 Worker Renewal – Course Description

The New York City Department of Buildings SST 10 Worker Renewal course is designed to satisfy the renewal requirements for workers holding an existing Site Safety Training (SST) Worker card. This course refreshes and reinforces critical construction safety knowledge with a focus on fall prevention and supported scaffold safety in accordance with NYC DOB regulations and applicable OSHA standards. The course includes 4-Hour Fall Prevention and 4-Hour Supported Scaffold (SST only), reinforcing critical safety practices, hazard awareness, and proper use of equipment on NYC job sites.

Upon completion, students will receive a certificate and remain eligible to renew their SST Worker card.

IMPORTANT: SST 10 Worker Renewal – Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for an SST Worker refresher under NYC DOB (Local Law 196), workers must:

-Hold a valid SST Worker card (40-hour)
-Be within 12 months of expiration

Full course completion required for CEUs.
All modules and assessments must be completed with 70% passing score.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Review the purpose and requirements of the NYC DOB Site Safety Training (SST) program.
  • Recognize common fall hazards associated with construction work and apply appropriate fall prevention and fall protection methods.
  • Identify safe work practices related to supported scaffold use, access, inspections, and hazard awareness.
  • Reinforce the proper selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for elevated work activities.
  • Identify hazards involving ladders, stairways, and walking/working surfaces.
  • Understand worker responsibilities related to maintaining safe jobsite conditions and regulatory compliance.
  • Recognize unsafe conditions and understand proper procedures for reporting hazards and incidents.
  • Reinforce safe work habits necessary to reduce accidents, injuries, and violations on construction sites.
