The OSHA 10-Hour General Industry course is an introductory occupational safety and health training program designed for entry-level workers in general industry environments such as manufacturing, warehousing, healthcare, maintenance, retail, distribution, and other non-construction workplaces. This course provides participants with a basic understanding of OSHA regulations, workplace hazard recognition, and safe work practices.
The training focuses on identifying, avoiding, and preventing common workplace hazards while promoting a culture of safety and compliance. Topics include OSHA worker rights, employer responsibilities, walking and working surfaces, hazard communication, personal protective equipment (PPE), electrical safety, machine guarding, emergency action procedures, ergonomics, and workplace health hazards.
Upon successful completion, participants will receive an OSHA 10-Hour General Industry completion card issued through an authorized OSHA Outreach Training Program provider.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: This Training course is proctored. If you are using a smartphone to complete your training, you will be required to have a SECONDARY mobile device to for authentication purposes. If you are using your laptop, you will also be required to use a mobile device for voice authentication.

Course/Activity Information

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the purpose of OSHA and worker rights under the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
  • Identify common workplace hazards found in general industry environments.
  • Recognize employer and employee responsibilities for maintaining a safe workplace.
  • Demonstrate awareness of proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and its safe use.
  • Identify hazards related to walking and working surfaces, including slips, trips, and falls.
  • Recognize electrical hazards and understand basic electrical safety procedures.
  • Explain the purpose and importance of hazard communication and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Identify machine guarding hazards and methods used to prevent injuries.
  • Recognize ergonomic risk factors and methods to reduce workplace strain and injury.
  • Understand emergency action procedures, fire prevention, and evacuation practices.
  • Apply basic hazard recognition and accident prevention techniques in general industry workplaces.
  • Promote safe work habits and overall workplace safety awareness.
